The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has announced the opening of a new ambulift (ambulance lift) at Rajkot Airport to assist travelers with reduced mobility.
As part of the Accessible India campaign, AAI has equipped 14 airports across the country with ambulances to assist Divyang passengers with reduced mobility to board the main decks of all types of aircraft (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan).
Dehradun, Gorakhpur, Patna, Bagdogra, Darbhanga, Imphal, Vijayawada, Port Blair, Jodhpur, Belgaum, Silchar, Jharsuguda, Rajkot and Hubli are among the 14 airports where the facility now operates.
By the end of the month, it should be operating at the airports of Dimapur, Jorhat, Leh, Jamnagar, Bhuj and Kanpur.
