AAI struggles with 29 idled aircraft, clashes with P&W amid SC woes

Currently, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has 29 idle aircraft at its owned and operated airports. The AAI is actively approaching airlines to sell these idle aircraft, and a bank/bond guarantee of around Rs 7,300 crore is maintained for these assets, as mentioned by Minister Scindia.

Responding to a supplementary question in the Lok Sabha, Minister Scindia highlighted that 95% of aircraft groundings in India are attributed to engine supplier P&W, which is facing supply chain issues. The government has contacted P&W directly to address the situation. Furthermore, Minister Scindia stated that Indian airlines are expanding their fleets with the introduction of more aircraft.

In a separate written reply, Civil Aviation Minister VK Singh said the AAI is implementing big data-based security equipment systems that use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to predict and analyze threats. cyber for better protection against cyber attacks.
