The Ministry of Civil Aviation told the media that the Obstacle Limitation Surface (OLS) Survey is to be conducted at the two sites, Pannur and Parandur, which have been shortlisted for Chennai's second airport because they have obstacles.

After the investigation, officials will check for obstacles around the site and look at the feasibility of operations. Authorities could finalize one of the sites for the second airport.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had found that two sites in Pannur and Parandur are more feasible for the airport project given the availability of airspace as these sites are free from natural obstacles.
