Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 includes 58 airports

On October 27, 2021, the Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 was unveiled, an improvement on the previous provisions and mainly aimed at the transportation of perishable food items from mountainous regions, northeastern states and tribal areas. Airports Authority of India (AAI) provides full waivers from Landing, Parking, Terminal Navigational Landing Charges (TNLC) and Route Navigation Facility Charges (RNFC) for Indian cargo vessels and P2C (Passenger-to-Cargo) aircraft to facilitate the transportation of agricultural products by air transport. In addition to 28 airports in other regions/areas, the project mainly includes about 25 airports with a concentration in the northeastern, hilly and tribal regions. Following evaluation of Krishi Udan 2.0, five additional airports have been added, bringing the total to 58 airports.

In the Krishi Udan scheme, there are eight ministries/departments—the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy, the Department of Fisheries, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the Department of Commerce, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, and the Ministry of Development of the North-Eastern Region — will join forces resources and existing programs to improve logistics for transporting agricultural products. There is no precise budgetary allocation under the Krishi Udan scheme.

The primary objective of the Krishi Udan Scheme 2.0 is to increase the share of air transport in the mix of modes of transport used to transport agricultural commodities, which also includes items from horticulture, fisheries, livestock and processed goods. The program helps farmers transport their products to increase the value of their output.
