Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengaluru to kick-start a number of new initiatives, including the opening of a second terminal at Kempegowda International Airport in the city.
PM Modi will also unveil a 30m tall bronze statue of Bengaluru founder Nadaprabhu Kempegowda on the airport grounds as well as the first Vande Bharat Express serving the Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru route.
The new terminal will cost the state Rs 50 billion and will pay homage to one of Bengaluru's older titles - Garden City - where the passenger experience is a "walk in the garden".
The second terminal, expected to open in December, will have dual check-in and immigration counters, as well as dual passenger handling capacity, easing congestion in the first.
The terminal will be able to handle between 5 and 6 million passengers per year.
