Himachal Pradesh to acquire 2,800 bighas for international airport
 

For the construction of a Greenfield International Airport at Balh in the Mandi district, the state government will carry out a Social Impact Assessment with a view to land acquisition.

The state government will acquire more than 2,868 bighas of land for the project in Mohal-Jarlu, Chhatru, Kummi, DPF Dyoda, Syanh, Tawan and Dhaban in Balh tehsil.

This airport would serve the greater interest of the state in addition to serving as a base for the Indian Air Force as the area is close to Leh. According to sources, large aircraft will be able to land at the proposed airport.
