The long wait for Arunachal Pradesh to have its own airport will come to an end on August 15 when Hollongi Airport, the state's first airport, comes into operation. The state capital, Itanagar, is just 15 kilometers away from the Greenfield Hollongi Airport.

Lilabari Airport in the North Lakhimpur district of Assam is currently the closest airport to Arunachal. The nearest international airport to Itanagar is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam.

On August 15, Hollongi Airport will officially open and accept passengers. The energy-efficient Greenfield Airport, which has all modern amenities, can accommodate 200 passengers during peak hours.
