The management of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) says it has saved Rs 10 crore in the past year after deploying solar energy for airport operations.

GHIAL owns solar energy capacities totaling 10 MW. It had commissioned a 5 MW solar power plant for its own use and expanded this solar power to 10 MW in 2021.

The facility is built over 45 acres and has over 30,000 solar panels. The solar plant is equipped with advanced ABB central inverters and polycrystalline PV panels, which are said to be of superior quality than the monocrystalline solar panels.
