While freight technology has become more efficient, the separation of freight procurement and payment remains a hurdle, leading to cumbersome reconciliation, wasted time in multi-partner transfers, and expensive credit guarantees.

After facilitating more than 100,000 digital e-bookings between freight forwarders and carriers in Q1 2022, WebCargo by Freightos is proud to be the first freight booking platform that unifies real-time rates and bookings with payments. A rigorous pilot is now successfully concluded after processing hundreds of shipments for some thirty participating freight forwarders and two airlines in three countries, proving itself as a valuable driver of efficiency.

Progress has been accelerated with Freightos' global payments expertise, which already enables tens of millions of dollars in annual payments. “Freight and payments are the foundations of global trade, but both create friction. Until now, freight forwarders booked freight on one platform and paid for it on another, which is similar to shopping on Amazon, but paying with Paypal,” says Zvi Schreiber, CEO of the Freightos Group. “We aim to digitize both on one platform, improve the interaction between freight forwarders and carriers, and provide a better experience for importers and exporters.”

“Since we started using WebCargo, our business has grown significantly,” said Nirav Gandhi, Managing Director at Spring World, a UK freight forwarder. Payments platform is now operational in the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom, with plans to roll out in parts of Asia in the near future. Qatar Airways Cargo was the first airline to test the solution and is joined by IAG Cargo, with more airlines expected soon.
