Goa's state director of civil aviation, Sunil Shanbhogue, told media that construction of Mopa Airport in North Goa region is 75% complete.

He told media that work to connect the runway to the passenger terminal is underway.

Goa International Airport Limited, a special entity of the GMR Group, is building the GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL). The technical building has since been handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The airport is expected to be handed over to air traffic control (ATC) next week.

Enlisted personnel have also been sent to Uttar Pradesh and Hyderabad for baggage screening, airport rescue and firefighting training.
