Purandar Airport land acquisition decision imminent

The state government and the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation will finalize a land acquisition plan for Purandar airport within the next eight days, Industries Minister Uday Samant said. He announced that he, along with Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, will evaluate three models in the coming days. Once a model is selected, MIDC will start the land acquisition process.

MIDC acquires land, hands it over to industrialists who pay the government, which then compensates the landowners. The government buys the land directly and later recovers the cost from industrialists. MIDC acquires land and hands it over directly to industrialists. The project requires about 3,000 acres spread across seven villages in Purandar. In June, the DGCA approved the airport. Samant also mentioned that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed him to address compliance issues with Mercedes Benz India following a notice from the MPCB. He confirmed that all necessary compliance measures have been completed. The land near Chakan for the Vedanta-Foxconn project has also been allotted by MIDC for logistics facilities.
